Tourist accommodation in Portugal in July recorded a total of 3.2 million guests and 9.0 million overnight stays, reflecting year-on-year increases of 1.5% and 2.1% respectively, thus maintaining the slowdown seen in the preceding months, National Statistics Institute INE has announced today. According to INE’s latest data, the increases recorded in July compares with June’s 6.8% year-on-year rise in the number of guests and the 5.0% rise in overnight stays. The July slowdown was in part driven by a 3.4% year-on-year drop in national guests – while the number of guests from abroad was up 4.6%. In June, both the number of guests from Portugal and those from abroad showed year-on-year increases, of 6.8% and 6.7% respectively.
