High-price Algarve registers “constant increase” of people in disadvantaged situations

The exorbitant cost of accommodation in the Algarve has seen more and more people fall into ‘disadvantaged situations’ – 744 of them ending up ‘homeless’, 655 actually living on the streets. This is a previously unprecedented number for the region. It has been logged by the LEGOS project, and refers to hardship in half of the region’s municipalities: Loulé registering no less than 141 people ‘living on the streets’, followed by Portimão (where there are 116) Albufeira (104), and Faro (64), Lagos (97), Olhão (63), Vila real de Santo António (39) and Tavira (31).
