Canopy by Hilton Vilamoura Marina set to open in 2026
Hospitality giant Hilton has announced plans to open three new hotels in Portugal between 2025 and 2026 – one of them in the Algarve resort town of Vilamoura.
The new hotel in Vilamoura – Canopy by Hilton Vilamoura Marina – is set to open in 2026 under the Canopy by Hilton brand. Featuring 155 rooms and located just 500 metres from Vilamoura beach, near the Vilamoura Marina, the hotel will also boast a restaurant and bar, as well as a spa, outdoor pool and fitness centre.
“Following a management agreement with Arrow Global Group, the Canopy by Hilton Vilamoura Marina will offer guests a superior quality experience in a boutique hotel, showcasing the best of this Algarve region,” the Hilton group says in a statement to the press.
Set to open earlier in 2025 are the two other new hotels announced by Hilton and opening following a franchise agreement with Mercan Properties Group.
The Santo André Beach Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, will be located in the Santiago do Cacém region and will be the first Hilton to open in the area.

“With unique beaches and landscapes, the location of this property makes it a perfect destination for guests to relax and connect with nature while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere the hotel has to offer,” Hilton says.
Opening under a franchise agreement with the Mercan Properties Group, the hotel will have 44 rooms, a restaurant and bar, gym, and a rooftop pool with sea views, given that it is located 200 meters from the Lagoas de Santo André and Sancha Nature Reserve and 500 meters from Santo André Beach.
Last but not least, the DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon Airport will have 199 rooms and 20 suites. Located “just five minutes by car from one of Europe’s busiest airports, this DoubleTree by Hilton property will offer maximum comfort for business and leisure travelers,” Hilton says.

“Guests can enjoy the restaurant, bar, and breakfast room throughout their stay, as well as extensive facilities for meetings, conferences, and events. Guests will also have access to a modern fitness room and a spacious outdoor area to relax and rejuvenate—whether waiting for a flight or simply enjoying their stay. They can also delight in the iconic warm chocolate chip cookie that has become synonymous with DoubleTree’s hospitality and offers moments of well-being from arrival to departure,” the group adds.
The opening of the three new hotels is part of Hilton’s expansion plan in Portugal, explains Patrick Fitzgibbon, Senior Vice President of Development, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Asia), at Hilton.
“Last year, the number of tourists reached historic records in Portugal and, with the expectation that demand will continue, we will continue to invest in this truly attractive market. We are very excited about signing these three new properties, which involve three of our world-class brands. Our Portuguese portfolio is in full expansion and now includes more than 20 hotels in operation and development. Portugal is recognised as an excellent destination for its welcoming and warm hospitality, beautiful landscapes, and excellent cuisine. We are proud to further enhance the range of options for travelers visiting this country,” he said.
