A house fire led police officers to the discovery of a homemade cannabis ‘plantation’ in Calhandriz, Vila Franca de Xira, on Sunday. What appears to have happened is that equipment used in the cultivation of cannabis plants caught light, prompting the homeowners to call firemen. GNR officers, arriving as back-up, found 178 plants and various items of drug-related equipment. A 25-year-old man was taken in for questioning.
