That was the advice of Homes Overseas Awards Manager, Felicity Quigley, when she visited the Algarve recently to congratulate the prize winners of last year’s competition.
“We believe our awards carry serious weight with buyers, so it makes sense to advertise the fact that you have won a prize,” she said. “Some of our winners last year have done nothing with their award, while others have made the most of it.” Vale do Lobo, winner of the prestigious overall Best Luxury Development prize, features posters, banners and signs everywhere, proudly announcing their gold status. “That’s the way to do it!” Felicity smiled.
The judges who visited the short-listed properties in each of the countries compiled a report which not only highlighted the prize-winning elements, but also pointed out areas for improvement. As Felicity said, “our judges are professional architects and surveyors, and experienced property journalists who know what buyers are looking for. That’s what makes the Homes Overseas Awards so important for both developers and UK overseas property buyers.”
The Early Bird closing date is July 31. All entries received by then will be judged by a panel of Homes Overseas readers, the winner automatically being short-listed in its category. Final closing date for the Awards is September 10.
