With the petition against the government’s proposal to massively increase road fund tax on old vehicles gaining new support by the hour the leader of Iniciativa Liberal, Rui Rocha, has challenged the prime minister to scrap the plan -stressing it is not only ‘regressive’ in nature, but “socially unjust”. Indeed, it reveals “an enormous fiscal cruelty and enormous misunderstanding of the country” on the part of the prime minister, he said, as it is a measure that will affect the least wealthy people, who face a lack of public transports as a valid alternative to their old vehicles.
