A man armed with a knife pursued Moroccans in Porto’s Campo 24 de Agosto district in the early hours of Tuesday morning, stabbing one of them, reports Jornal de Notícias. Shortly after the attack, the same man is understood to have attacked an Indian driver at a service station in São Roque da Lameira. In both incidents, the man is cited with having made racist insults, says the paper. The victims have been treated in hospital. Authorities investigating believe the attacker (whom they are still trying to identify) acted alone, and did not belong to any extremist groups. This one area of Porto has become synonymous with violence over recent months, instigated by Portuguese citizens and by immigrant groups themselves.
