INEM (Portugal’s medical emergency institute) has announced the launch a new public tender for its medical emergency helicopter service, after the tender launched in January ‘bombed’: two bids were received, both “significantly” exceeding the base price, which stood at €54 million. Since January the country’s emergency medical helicopter cover has been severely reduced, due to the current concession holder’s inability to run a full service on money being received.
