INFARMED, Portugal’s medicines authority, has imposed a nationwide ban on the prescription of Picato gel – a treatment for actinic keratosis (a condition caused by excessive sun exposure).
Fears are that Picato gel could actually be causing them to develop skin cancer.
Explain reports, authorities are now reviewing data, but so far there seems to be a direct correlation between the use of this particular treatment and incidences of skin cancer.
Say reports, anyone who has Picato gel at home “should stop using it immediately”.
