The public ministry has opened an investigation in to the causes and circumstances surrounding the death of an 18-month-old baby brought into Lagos Hospital on Sunday afternoon.
According to tabloid Correio da Manhã, the child “of German nationality” was brought into the hospital by his mother “in a very serious condition”.
“Despite efforts to save him, he died”.
PSP police were called, says the paper, and the little boy’s body was transported to the mortuary in Portimão Hospital for autopsy.
For now there are no more details.
CM appears to be the only news source to have reported on the tragedy. Hospital sources have confirmed the details but could not reveal the nationality of the baby. A spokesperson said only that it was not Portuguese.
