Operation Influencer, the corruption probe that caused the downfall of António Costa’s Socialist government, is seemingly nowhere near a conclusion. Attorney General José Guerra has even said there is no decision either way on the possible involvement of António Costa. Now, tabloid Correio da Manhã reports a story from Público saying that prosecutors are investigating “the violation of a seal on boxes that contain documents apprehended in searches of Operation Influencer”. At issue is material recovered from a lawyers’ office. One apparent ‘certainty’ is that nothing has been removed from the boxes. But CM also says “the documents apprehended over a year ago have not yet been analysed by magistrates”. Thus, anyone hoping for a quick resolution of this case looks likely to face disappointment.
