Irishman drowns at Albufeira’s Inatel beach

A 52-year-old Irish tourist drowned at Albufeira’s Inatel beach on Saturday (April 20) shortly before 1pm.

The National Maritime Authority (AMN) said two people tried to rescue the man after they saw him struggling in the sea, but they too began struggling due to the sea’s rough conditions that day.

All three were pulled from of the sea by lifeguards from the nearby Pescadores beach who immediately began performing CPR on the Irishman. However, his death was declared at the scene.
