79-year-old woman was reported missing on Sunday
A 79-year-old Italian woman has been reported missing from a rural area of Monchique, authorities have confirmed.
The alarm was sounded shortly after 6pm in the area of Portela Baixa by a family member, a GNR police source said.
Speaking to the Resident, GNR Faro Captain and spokesperson António Rosa confirmed the woman left her house without her mobile phone, meaning authorities cannot track her using GPS technology. The spokesperson added that searches for the missing woman are ongoing, involving land teams, drones, sniffer dogs, and firefighters.
