Jazzing up the Algarve this May

The Algarve Jazz Orchestra is playing three concerts and giving three workshops across the Algarve this month.

The Algarve Jazz Orchestra is promoting the Fusion & Beyond programme during the month of May. Two special guests will join the famous band: Lisbon singer Ana Rita Inácio and Armindo Neves, a guitarist, orchestrator, and conductor.

The organization invites the public to discover the talents of these “two great artists” and enjoy a program that takes a journey through Fusion in Jazz, showcasing tracks by Pat Metheny, Bob Mintzer, and Tower of Power, among others.

This year, as the Orchestra celebrates its twentieth anniversary, the Fusion & Beyond initiative will feature three concerts:

May 10 at 21h00 at Cerca do Convento in Loulé;

May 11 at 19h00 at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium in Lagoa;

May 18 at 21h30, as part of the Jazz Days programme, at the Teatro das Figuras in Faro.

The “Jazz at School” project, organized by the Algarve Jazz Orchestra, continues to conduct introductory workshops on jazz music for primary schools in the Algarve region.

On May 13, they will be at Escola Básica de Ferreiras in Albufeira;

On May 17 at Escola Vale das Pedras, also in Albufeira;

On May 21, to conclude the May sessions, the band will be at EB1 de S. Marcos da Serra in Silves.
