With forever changing technology, when it comes to the latest cosmetic procedures and products, it’s often difficult to keep up. To give you a helping hand, here are some that have been in the ‘beauty’ news lately…

Lâncome Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate

A decade of study into 4,400 genes and 1,300 proteins that affect the skin resulted in this potent fluid made from a cocktail of ingredients that have been shown in vitro to stimulate genes to behave more like those of young skin. Consumers in a clinical study reported softer, smoother, more even toned skin in just seven days.

Clinique Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder

Instantly neutralising facial redness, while at the same time soothing underlying inflammation-causing irritation with a patent-pending blend of caffeine and magnolia bark, mushroom and grapefruit extracts.

Estée Lauder Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Moisturiser

This was the result of extensive research into sirtuins – a collection of enzymes that can be artificially activated to increase longevity. The moisturiser stimulates the proteins responsible for young skin.

Olay Professional Pro-X Starter Protocol

These new anti ageing treatments were designed by a team of scientists and dermatologists with combined experience in biochemistry, cosmetic dermatology, inflammatory skin disease, toxicology, cell biology and more.

Beware DIY kits

A so-called DIY botox kit has been available to buy from Ebay. The kit, containing needles and a facial map, has caused worry among medical professionals about the lack of regulation of such potentially harmful cosmetic treatments.

Which?, consumer magazine said that it is very dangerous to carry out such a procedure without medical expertise. After alerting Ebay to the dangers of these products which came from Texas in the US, the advert was removed from the site. Other websites, however, are still selling similar products.

Pearl Fractional

This new targeted laser treatment boasts a new wavelength that stimulates the body’s own collagen making process to plump, smooth, and firm skin from within while improving texture, tone and discolouration.
