Local parish union is acting now to help prepare for the wildfire season in advance
The parish union of Lagoa and Carvoeiro has launched a donation drive in aid of the volunteer firefighters of Lagoa.
The campaign will run until September 30 and seeks to gather a variety of essential items, including individual juice boxes, water, cereal bars, energy bars, fruits or fruit packs, individual packs of cookies, individual doses of saline solution, white t-shirts, and cotton socks. These items are considered vital to keep the firefighters well-nourished and equipped during the intense workload typical of summer.
“With temperatures rising and the (forecast) of a lot of work in the summer, we wanted to help in advance,” said parish union president Joaquim João.
Donations can be dropped off at Lagoa’s fire station, the parish union headquarters in Lagoa and its delegation in Carvoeiro.
