One of the most prestigious awards given in Portugal, it is awarded to organisations that promote social wellbeing and development.
The Union of Parishes of Lagoa and Carvoeiro has been honoured with the Flag of Social Merit 2025, awarded by the National Association of Social Gerontology (ANGES). This is one of the most prestigious awards given in Portugal.
According to the regulation, it is awarded upon the Advisory Board of the National Association of Social Gerontology (ANGES) proposal to organisations that promote social wellbeing and development, implementing interventions designed to minimise the vulnerability, poverty, and needs of individuals or communities.
The “Espaço Der – Dar e Receber” project and the Senior Centres of Lagoa and Carvoeiro are at the base of this attribution.
According to Joaquim João Paulo, the president of the Union of Parishes of Lagoa and Carvoeiro, “This distinction makes us extremely proud, as it acknowledges the social services provided by this Union of Parishes over the past twelve years.”
The award ceremony will take place on March 25 in Oliveira do Bairro at a gala attended by the Minister of Labour, Solidarity, and Social Security, Maria do Rosário Palma Ramalho.
