Portuguese artists including Áurea, Ana Moura and Pedro Abrunhosa have been announced as the musical guests of the ‘Lagoa Wine Show’, designed to promote the borough as a “wine region of excellence”.
Taking place between April 2 and 4 at the Centro de Congressos do Arade in Parchal, the event will attract wine producers from all over the country, and feature everything from tastings to debates, lectures and, of course, musical entertainment.
Concerts will kick off on day one with a performance by Portuguese soul singer Áurea, who became a national sensation following hits such as ‘Busy for Me’ and ‘Okay Alright’.
The next day sees the turn of fado star Ana Moura – who has performed onstage alongside Prince – while the final performance is being left to bespectacled singer-songwriter Pedro Abrunhosa.
Lisbon’s DJ Poppy has been hired to keep the party atmosphere going after the concerts.
Organised by Lagoa council and the Algarve Wine Route (Rota dos Vinhos do Algarve), the event is being marketed as “one of the biggest wine exhibitions of the south of Portugal”.
It is only one of the wine-related events included in Lagoa’s programme for 2015. The borough’s summer fair Fatacil, which attracts visitors from all over the country and beyond, will also be focused on wine this year.
