Lagoa pauses major roadworks during summer

Lagoa roadworks are being temporarily suspended to reduce traffic issues

Lagoa has decided to halt several major roadworks during July and August to reduce traffic issues.

The projects which have been temporarily halted involve the replacement of main water pipes throughout the municipality, including pipes between Lagoa and Estômbar and Calvário, Cerca da Lapa and Sesmarias, and Cerca da Lapa and Moinhos/Vale de Milho. The local council has also suspended the installation of “measurement and control zones” and “controlled pressure zones” across the municipality, the municipal council says.

While the municipal authority has stopped the ongoing works to the pipes between Lagoa, Estômbar and Calvário, it has begun new works on the road to Torrinha; opting to put on hold the work planned between the busy Estômbar road and the Slide and Splash water park for now.

Regarding the works between Cerca da Lapa and Sesmarias, they have been paused on national EN124-1 road near the Gramital roundabout but are continuing on the municipal road leading to the Sesmarias water tower.

Works on the water pipes between Cerca da Lapa and Moinhos/Vale de Milho have stopped on the 1273 municipal road but are continuing between Salicos and Lagoa’s industrial zone.

Meanwhile, the council will continue to fill in the trenches that were already dug where the so-called measurement and control zones and controlled pressure zones are being installed, but has stopped digging new trenches on busy roads, it says.

The local authority adds that all works will be resumed in September.
