Law ‘releases’ teens from heavy sentence for fatal knife attack

Two teenage boys have escaped much heavier sentencing for the fatal knife attack of ‘a rival’ at Matosinhos shopping centre last summer. Because of their ages, the youngster will only have to spend time in an ‘education centre’ until they are 18 – even that will be on a ‘semi-open’ basis for one of them, meaning he only has to sleep at the centre, but can otherwise ‘come and go’.
