Leixões ports authority has announced today that in the first half of the year, the port, just outside Porto, received the highest ever number of cruises and passengers – an increase of 10% in terms of people and 27% in ships compared to the same period in 2023. In a statement, the ports authority said: “In the first six months of the year, the port of Leixões received 71 cruise ships and 73,341 passengers, making it the best first half ever in terms of cruiseship activity”. According to the authority led by João Pedro Neves, seven new port calls were inaugurated, “out of a total of 19 expected by the end of the year”.
