Light aircraft crashes, starts forest fire: pilot escapes unharmed

It has been a very lucky day for the pilot of a light aircraft that crash landed in the village of Carvalhal, in the borough of Abrantes (Santarém district). As his plane fell to earth early this afternoon, it touched a medium tension power line, provoking a fire among eucalyptus trees, close to a number of houses. But the man managed to emerge from his aircraft more or less unscathed – and the fire was put out before it caused any major damage. According to reports, the pilot did not even need to visit hospital.
