Lisbon councils to find new solutions for migrants, rough sleepers, addicts

The Lisbon Metropolitan Area (AML) is to create a working group to find “innovative regional solutions” that respond to “major challenges” relating to migrant communities, the homeless and addictions and addictive behaviour. The decision was taken at an AML meeting in Lisbon yesterday, which brought together mayors from the region’s 18 local authorities, government representatives and officials from the Institute for Addictive Behaviours and Addictions (ICAD). In a statement released today, the AML revealed that participants were unanimous on the need to “address issues from an inter-municipal perspective, coordinated between the government, public bodies in the social and health sectors, among others”.
