Waiting times in hospitals near the capital are extending dramatically.
In Hospital Garcia da Orta, patients are reporting waits of up to 10 hours to see a doctor, with the “very urgent” cases attributed orange bands at triage – which should be seen within 10 minutes – taking as much as an hour and a half.
A hospital spokesman put the delays down to staff shortages.
