A masked man armed with a pistol robbed the Bim Bam jewellery shop on Estrada de Benfica, Lisboa, yesterday morning, managing to make his getaway with ‘various items of jewellery’ without being challenged. According to Correio da Manhã, the son of the proprietor explained that his mother (in the shop at the time) had the gun pointed at her head before fainting. The son added that this is the 12th time the shop has been robbed (no time limit given). PSP police called to the scene were initially said to have handed the investigation over PJ judicial police. But subsequent reports have explained that they ‘caught’ the suspect, some hours after the crime, “in one of the adjacent streets”. He is a 19-year-old, with criminal records both here and in Brazil, writes Correio da Manhã.
