A NEW development in the hills of Monchique has scooped the prize for best development 2008 at the CNBC Europe and Africa property awards.
The Longevity wellness resort is situated in the hills of Monchique and comprises of 195 one bedroom apartments aimed at a potential market of those over 45 years old.
Innovative environmentally friendly architecture and engineering combined with imaginative solutions to cater for the senior holiday market led to the development winning the prestigious award.
This is the first resort in the region to offer senior friendly facilities, including an anti-aging spa and recreational activities aimed at mature guests.
The apartments at the resort are designed to be accessible for those with mobility difficulties and the services available to guests are all aimed at making life easier for senior owners and visitors.
More than 40 per cent of the apartments in the four star resort have been sold in the development, which is expected to be completed by the end of September 2009.
