Loulé invites community to contribute to municipal culture plan

Municipal council wants local population to contribute to Loulé’s strategic culture plan

The municipal council of Loulé is inviting the local community to contribute to the creation of its strategic municipal culture plan.

The next step of this process is scheduled for Saturday, November 9, when a municipal conference entitled ‘Cultura Loulé 2024’ (Loulé Culture 2024) will take place at the auditorium of the Espírito Santo convent in Loulé, open to the public.

“The conference seeks to create an open, democratic space that encourages broad social participation in diagnosing the cultural landscape of the region. By doing so, it aims to produce a collaborative document that will be taken into account for the creation of the final cultural plan,” the municipal council says in a statement to the press.

The conference will see four working groups focusing on several cultural themes, ending with a broader meeting where participants can present, discuss and comment on the findings from their groups.

Anyone interested in joining the discussions can sign up online, while ideas can also be shared online or through suggestion boxes placed around town.

Since August 2024, a “multidisciplinary team” from the University of Minho’s Observatory of Science, Communication, and Culture has been collaborating with the municipal council on this project, which aims to actively involve the community in shaping the strategic cultural plan, entitled ‘Strategic Plan for Culture Loulé 2034’.
