The government met yesterday with Germna airline Lufthansa’s executive president Carsten Spohr who is “interested in buying 20% of TAP”. The meeting, involving finance minister Joaquim Miranda Sarmento and Infrastructures minister Miguel Pinto Luz, reportedly took place on the request of Mr Spohr. There were no statements made in its aftermath. The ‘reprivatisation’ of TAP has been on the government’s agenda since the time of the last (Socialist) administration. Two other airlines are reportedly ‘interested’ in stakes: IAG (the owner of Iberia/ British Airways) and Air-France-KLM.
