The regional government of Madeira has decided to create a strategic reserve of cereals to ensure that no supply disruptions arise in the bakery sector, Rui Barreto, regional secretary of the economy, has announced. The monthly investment of €60,000 will be put in place for a year. He told Lusa: “The objective is to guarantee that there is no break in supply and that the region’s interest is safeguarded, namely for the bakery industry, because bread is a sacred matter for the regional government of Madeira”.
