Major purchase of bird flu vaccine

The European Commission is buying up to 665,000 doses of the Segirus vaccine to prevent human contagion with bird flu “to reinforce prevention in Portugal and 14 other Member States”, say reports citing ABC Espanha, which suggests this is Europe preparing for a possible second pandemic. The four-year contract includes an option for the acquisition of another 40 million doses, says the news source.
