Man dies following street bullfighting ‘fest’ in Évora

Yet another person has been rushed to hospital following participation in one of Portugal’s summertime ‘largada de touros’ (a form of street bullfight that features in many town festivals). But this time, the victim did not survive: the 51-year-old man was “seriously hurt” in an event in São Manços, Évora, in the early hours of this morning, and despite prompt attention, he was pronounced dead in hospital shortly afterwards. This is the third serious incident in a ‘largada de touros’ this summer (there have been a number of minor injuries that never make the news pages).
