Man was found guilty of ordering the murder
PJ police have arrested in Lisbon a 51-year-old man sentenced to 14 years in prison for ordering the murder of another man in São Brás de Alportel in 1998.
In a statement, the criminal police force says the man was detained following an arrest warrant issued by the Judicial Court of Faro.
Says the statement, the man ordered the death of a 28-year-old man in February 1998 in the Algarve municipality of São Brás de Alportel.
“The victim was approached and restrained by three men who, acting on the orders of the detainee, took him to a remote location and fatally shot him,” PJ police say. The victim’s body was then taken to and left in Castro Marim while his car was abandoned in Spain.
A PJ investigation determined that the crime had “personal motives”, which were initially disguised to look like a robbery.
The man has been taken to Faro prison to serve his sentence.
