Investments in fishing ports highlighted
Portugal’s agriculture minister José Manuel Fernandes has said in Lisbon today that the Mar 2030 programme has more than 1,700 approved projects, with €189 million in support, particularly involving investments in fishing ports.
The minister, speaking at a joint hearing with the Budget, Finance and Public Administration, and Agriculture and Fisheries committees, added that fleet modernisation, aquaculture, and innovation for small and medium-sized companies were other investments that particularly stand out.
In response to MPs, José Manuel Fernandes said Mar 2030 would be running at ‘cruising speed’ next year.
The programme has a budget of €539.9 million, split between the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) and national funds.
A total of 69 projects have been approved for the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), particularly fisheries, representing 38% of the total, and in which €31 million is earmarked for the modernisation of fishing vessels.
