The three-day music festival, focusing on sustainability and respect for the sea, brings top Portuguese acts to the city’s riverside area.
Portimão’s young, fresh and eco-friendly music festival “Mar Me Quer” returns to the city’s riverside area on August 8, 9 and 10.
Since its inception, the three-day festival has drawn in crowds of thousands. It was designed to meet the need for an event with a youthful, trendy, and bold atmosphere, coupled with a clear focus on environmental initiatives.
The event, now in its third consecutive year, will feature a line-up of beloved Portuguese performers like Teto, Slow J, Bárbara Bandeira, Van Zee, and fado singer Mariza, who will perform on two stages along Portimão’s riverside promenade.
This festival promises to celebrate music and its commitment to sustainability and environmental preservation.
With ecological awareness as a central priority, it will promote eco-friendly practices such as using recyclable materials, reducing waste and raising awareness about ocean conservation.
The festival’s decoration will also be in line with the theme, featuring works created by visual artists who use materials collected from the oceans and others who, through their art, amplify the need to act in the face of the climate emergency we are experiencing.
Tickets cost between €20 for a day pass and €45 for a three-day pass and can be purchased here.
The full line-up is available on the festival’s website: https://marmequer.pt
