Police divers have resumed searches today for the three fishermen who remain missing following yesterday’s shipwreck off the coast of Marinha Grande. Reports stress that the priority is to find the missing men, but equally searches will involve collecting ‘evidence’ for the inquiry that has been opened into the tragedy. According to Correio da Manhã, one theory is that the net thrown overboard may have been “too heavy”, or might have become caught on the seabed, causing the ‘Virgem Dolorosa’ to turn turtle. Of the 11 survivors among the crew of 17, one is still in intensive care.
