Four masked men pretending to be police hijacked a van on the A23 motorway at aropund 1 o’clock this morning, near Santarém. The van driver has explained that the men appeared to be driving a police car, which came up behind him with lights flashing, which is why he stopped. They then took control of his vehicle and made off. There was no violence, say reports. The four are still ‘in parts unknown’, but the van has since been recovered.
