The Grand Orient of Portugal, one of the oldest Masonic organisations in the world bringing together masons of all political persuasions will be holding a rare session at its headquarters in Lisbon tomorrow to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the April 25 Carnation Revolution. Say reports, in the sessions all shops founded before 1974 – some of them even at the start of the 20th century, and which working during the years of the dictatorship, will be celebrated. There really aren’t many of those ancient shops remaining: Porto’s oldest grocers, for example, has just announced that it will be closing its doors for good at the end of the month… to give way to a Spanish multinational.
