Portugal’s Council of Ministers has changed the maximum amount for subscribing to F series savings certificates (currently being offered) from €50,000 to €100,000, while for the F and E series as a whole the maximum limit has raised from €250,000 to €350,000. The rates of return on the certificates remain unchanged, writes Lusa. According to a government source, the government is expecting an increase in demand for savings certificates, considering that the (albeit gradual) reduction in interest rates increases demand for this financial product.
