KATE AND Gerry McCann have no intention of leaving Praia da Luz in the next couple of months.
The couple say they have been frequently asked about their return to the family home in Rothley, Leicestershire and say they don’t feel ready to leave. “It’s difficult to come on a holiday journey as a group of five and return home as a group of only four”, said Kate.
Friends of the family have assured various newspapers that Gerry and Kate intend to stay in the Algarve for as long as they need and that Kate in particular is not yet ready to go back.
Yesterday (Wednesday) the couple released a letter to the residents of Praia da Luz that will probably be published in the TV magazines over the weekend. The letter aims to thank all the people who live in the area of Praia da Luz for their support since Madeleine went missing, on May 3.
The full transcript of the letter is as follows:
We want to thank the people of Portugal for their prayers and support.
Our precious little Madeleine is still missing. She was cruelly snatched from her bed over 100 days ago. We do not know who has taken her or where she is. We have always felt the best chance of finding her is through the police investigation, but we urge people in Portugal to keep looking for Madeleine.
We start every day praying that today will be the day Madeleine comes home. We want everyone to know that we have not given up hope. We will not give up searching for our lovely daughter.
We are just an ordinary family. All we want is to be re-united with Madeleine and to be a happy family once again. Without her, our lives are not complete.
Our family has received good wishes from thousands of people, all over the world, but we would like to particularly thank the local community in Praia da Luz for their overwhelming support and patience.
