Former PSD MP Patrícia Dantas has confirmed to ‘Funchal Notícias’ that she is to be the new ‘deputy’ to finance minister Joaquim Miranda Sarmento. According to Correio da Manhã, Ms Dantas is being tried for the crime of fraud (in obtaining subsidies) and suspended her mandate as an MP “several times” in order to go to court. At issue is the AIMinho ‘mega-case’ that involves almost €10 million in European funds and financial support from the State Budget for services and projects that either never happened, or were never executed. The case involves over 120 official suspects.
