Albufeira’s Herdade dos Salgados welcomed more than 15,000 Mercedes-Benz’ delegates who took part in the ‘Global Training Experience 2014’ to learn about the legendary car brand and its latest models. The event was also an opportunity to launch the new Mercedes C-Class, the GLA-Class, the V-Class and the S-Class Coupe.
People in the Algarve have probably noticed the convoys of German-plated Mercedes Benz, Audis and BMWs (the latter two used for comparison purposes) that have been touring the region over the last month. According to organisers, a total of 300 vehicles arrived in the Algarve for what is described as “the largest event in the vehicle sector ever to be held in Portugal”.
The Herdade dos Salgados was chosen by the manufacturer because it was able to host the event in one location only. The resort includes a 1,650-seat auditorium and 40 individual meeting rooms, some of which accommodated up to 10 vehicles at a time.
Marcos Sousa, General Manager at CS Salgados Grande Hotel, told the Resident that the delegates have all been offered discounts for future stays at the resort and that he hopes the marketing strategy will encourage return visitors.
