Minister of environment decides not to stand in upcoming elections

Minister of Environment and Climate Action Duarte Cordeiro has opted not to stand in the upcoming elections in March, due to the fact that he is implicated in Operation Influencer, the criminal probe that effectively brought down the absolute majority PS government. “It is a personal option, an evaluation that I have made in the face of the somewhat toxic environment in which we are living”, he told RTP 3. Mr Cordeiro also alluded to “a situation related with LIsbon City Council” (more accurately, his possible involvement in the long-running probe Operation Tutti-Frutti)
