An earthquake measuring a magnitude of 3.2 on the Richter scale hit Vila Real de Santo António on Sunday night (January 12), reports the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere.
The quake occurred at around 10.30pm and was centred round the Gulf of Cadiz, nearly 20 kilometres below sea level.
There were no reports of damage or injuries.
