NETCONEXION, THE IT division of the Enova Group, has been awarded the distribution rights for Western Europe of a new intelligent home systems technology from US-based company, Lagotek.
Lagotek’s z-wave technology, which is similar to Bluetooth, whereby information can be transported wirelessly, gives complete home intelligence at the touch of a button.
Video surveillance, climate control, lighting, irrigation, blinds and entertainment can all be controlled from an easy to use panel or even with a computer or mobile phone via the internet.
Paul Harris, technical director of Netconexion, told The Resident: “This new technology is much cheaper than anything that has come before it and can be easily installed in any home, old or new, without the need for re-wiring.”
The Lagotek system features a minimum of two touch screen pads, which are fixed to the wall where an ordinary double light switch would be. These touch pads communicate wirelessly with each other, constantly updating information.
“There are two key features, modes and rules, which makes the whole system much simpler for homeowners to use,” said Paul Harris.
Different modes
A ‘good night’ mode can be created for example, which is a one touch command that adjusts room temperatures, security system, lighting and home entertainment for night settings.
A holiday mode can also be created, whereby climate can be set to unoccupied levels while other appliances such as lighting can be remembered and automatically switched on and off at certain times of day.
Rules can also be programmed into the system, which simplify a home owner’s daily life by allowing them to set all of the house systems to a desired state by pressing just one button.
“An example of this would be a rule set for when the garage doors are opened between 8pm and 5am then certain lights are automatically switched on,” said Paul Harris.
As well as being a simple-to-use system, it also allows a homeowner to add more features and expand the coverage of controls anytime in the future.
“A homeowner can begin by having just a starter package installed and can then add more later on if they wish, such as blinds and irrigation controls or if an extension is added to the house,” said Paul Harris.
