Lusitano Moncarapachense’s “B” team secured second place in Algarve Division 2 and, therefore, joined Olhanense 1912 in gaining promotion.
The away game at Guia FC needed the home side to win if they were to climb above Moncarapachense. The visitors made life difficult for Guia when Ricardo Esteves slotted home after 15 minutes. The game boiled over when Guia were reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute.
The final 20 minutes saw Moncarapachense pick up six yellow cards as they hung on to their 1-0 lead and a vital victory.
