According to the Ministry of Education, more than 5,900 primary and secondary school teachers will receive bonuses this month due to recovering their four-year-old frozen service time. In the meantime, there are still 6,627 processes launched by schools that are awaiting validation by teachers, according to the Ministry, adding that these numbers are expected to rise sharply over the course of September, with the start of teaching activities in the nation’s schools. In total, as of last Sunday’s 23:59 deadline for lodging claims, 76,809 teachers had accessed the platform to recognise frozen service time – a major win by the unions following the last government’s absolute refusal to consider this compensation.
