Speaking today after the first round of meetings with the health ministry, FNAM president Joana Bordalo e Sá elaborated on the ‘urgency’ to reach agreements: most of the doctors in the SNS State health service have already performed the statutory 150 hours of overtime to which they are obliged by law; A&E departments are “still chaotic”, and the summer (with its increased demand on healthcare services) is “close”. It is “urgent”, she stressed to come to working agreements so there are no further ‘dramas’ in the country’s State health cover.
