The mother of a pupil who was sexually abused by a school employee in Leça da Palmeira, Matosinhos has sued the school and the State for employing an ex-convict. The man, who had a criminal record, had been working as a janitor through a programme run by the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training. He has since received a suspended jail sentence of three years for sexually abusing five of the school’s pupils.
