Show saw 55% increase in attendance
The UK’s longest-running and premier event on relocating to Portugal, the Moving to Portugal Show and Seminars has recorded a huge increase in demand from Britons seeking a new life overseas.
The event, organised by the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK, took place in London on April 3, with over 250 people attending, representing 55% more than the spring 2024 show.
The relocation, property and investment event delivered seminar presentations, expert panel discussions and a carefully curated selection of 17 exhibitors, enabling attendees to glean all the information and expertise they need for a seamless move.
Divided into two main sections, the morning session showcased property from all over Portugal, with an added focus on developers. Leading groups present including VIC, Libertas, Madre, TerraBella by Life Plan Resorts, Nomad Capital and Pestana Residences all shared their expertise and opportunities. The afternoon sessions were dedicated to presentations on residency by investment and golden visas, with lawyers, visa specialists and funds all in attendance.
Zoie Hawker, Managing Partner of Fine & Country Algarve, said: “The quality of the attendees was good. We had some very positive conversations. It’s always a pleasure to be here.”
Exhibitors at the Moving to Portugal Show included a range of experts on visas and residency options, taxation, property, healthcare, education and more, enabling delegates to make crucial connections prior to moving.
Dan Henderson, a Partner of Blevins Franks, said: “Encouraged to see such appetite to still move to Portugal. There seems to be a desire to exit the UK and take advantage of the tax planning opportunities that exist in Portugal.”
Moving to Portugal Show organiser Christina Hippisley, General Manager of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK, comments: “Many Britons are keen not just to move to Portugal but to do so rapidly. The Moving to Portugal Show empowers them to accelerate this process, providing a one-stop-shop for the information and networking needed to enable a seamless move. There is no better place for fostering direct connections with specialists in Portugal who can make the moving process easier.”
With such huge appetite clearly apparent for moving to Portugal, the team is already planning future events. The Moving to Portugal Show will next take place in Dublin on May 22, with a further show in London on October 16. Other locations around the UK are currently being explored.
