One of the ‘new measures’ brought in by José Pedro Aguiar Branco – the government’s choice for parliamentary president – is to ‘switch off’ the microphones of any MPs who speak longer than the time allotted them. In the past, these MPs were constantly ‘entreated’ to wind up their discourses, now they will be perfectly at liberty to go on talking, only no-one except those sitting next to them will be able to hear what it is they are saying. The decision is said to have been supported “by the majority of parties”…
